East River Foods LLC is a nut and dried fruit processing and marketing company established in Minnesota, USA, with a modern food processing plant located in the Kenya coast. With our largely Kenyan ownership we are able to source quality locally, organically or conventionally grown Cashew, Macadamia and fruit.
All products are 100% ethically sourced and in compliance with Fair Trade practices. Our production facility boasts a workforce that is 80% female and 65 women and youth – greatly empowering the local community. We operate under the highest quality and certifications – including: Organic, Kosher, FSSC, Fair Trade.
Our approach is to ensure proper management of the entire value chain – from farmer to export to customers all over the world – to ensure maximum value back to our smallholder farmers. We have enlisted over 25,000 smallholder farmers throughout Kenya. We offer regular training and agronomical support to these farmers to ensure a consistent supply of quality produce. In addition, we have invested in an in-house Outgrowers Management System (OMS) with blockchain technology that allows real-time data collection and inventory transparency – ensuring product traceability in line with international standards.
